Back to Trips & Trails Home

Hoosier National Forest

Saturday, June 28, 2003 - Showing up for this trip was Todd, Val and son Jack in their '97 & '98 TJs, Tom and Jackee in a '94 YJ, and Anna and me in Bullet ('01 TJ). We met up in Whiteland off of I-65 south around 6:30AM and made a trip down I-65 to the Columbus exit. Taking S.R. 46 west to Nashville, we then took S.R. 135 south to Story. Just east of Story we ate a hearty country breakfast at Coyote Creek Outfitters. After breakfast, we disconnected our swaybars, and aired down our tires for the trail ride.

Upon hitting the trail, we found the trails were rather dry (compared to our trip only weeks earlier). Along the trail we saw a nice box turtle, whitetail fawn, and Val's frog :) We proceeded to poke around on the trail until around 1pm when we stopped for lunch. After lunch I lead the other 3 Jeeps to the other part of the trail that leads to the old bridge that is now gone. From my understanding the group didn't go very far after Anna and I left and got lost on the way out (despite having my maps)...heh. I suppose it's kind of fun getting "lost" in the country on a nice summer day!
